Zunheboto Government College, initially sponsored and managed by the Sumi Hoho, was established as a private college on the 21st of July 1980. The state government took over the college in the month of November 1985. The motto of the College is “Struggle and Progress” and it has lived up to this expectation.

We are proud of our caring, inclusive ethos where we set high standards and expectations of our pupils to achieve their very best. From the moment a young person enters the College we want them to feel a sense of happiness and belonging, as this is essential to their future success. We aim for all pupils to be happy and to be challenged in a supportive and safe environment by: Developing well rounded individuals who demonstrate resilience, determination and strength of character. Curriculum Overview

The College aims at offering all our students a broad and balanced curriculum that provides rewarding and stimulating activities to prepare them for the best social and cultural life.

English Dept.

The development of awareness of language as a social phenomenon, its structure and behaviour; the development of taste and maturity of mind, the ability to think independently and form sound judgement; and the creation of socially productive citizens.

Economics Dept.

To benefit from the logical ordered way of examining problems and issues taught in the Economics programmes, no matter what career direction.

Education Dept.

To equip the students with different aspects of knowledge for the wholesome development of their personality and to prepare them to take up responsibility for citizenship and service in global community.

History Dept.

The department envisions creating a broad social, political and cultural awareness based on historical thinking and analysis; to make history a dialogue between people and societies for better understanding of the past and its relevance to the present; and convincingly set in place the importance of the discipline by integrating its multi-disciplinary facets.

Geography Dept.

Provide the highest quality of educational experience and dedicate to the advancement of geographical knowledge and to serve the communities from local to global.

Political Science Dept.

Promote cutting edge research and transmission of knowledge in the Humanities and Social Sciences. And inspire, to expand consciousness in every decision.

Environmental Science Dept.

Department of Environmental Science envisions fostering essential knowledge and ability to tackle the environmental challenges; develops the knowledge, talent and leadership to understand the changing Earth and to solve the enormous resource and environmental challenges facing the world now and in the decades ahead. To train and create a sustainable society that embodies respect and care for the community of life, ecological integrity, social and economic justice.
